The Partnership.

The Sunlight Group, headquartered in Greece, partnered with Crossley Scott to undertake a critical executive search for a Chief Executive Officer to lead their operations in the United States. Recognizing the strategic importance of strong leadership to their growth and expansion in the US market, Sunlight Group sought a recruitment partner with a global reach and expertise in identifying top-tier executives within technical markets related to energy storage batteries.

The challenges they were facing.

Sunlight Group required a Chief Executive Officer for their US operations who possessed significant leadership and management experience within a technical market closely related to energy storage batteries. The ideal candidate needed a strong understanding of the US market dynamics, the ability to drive strategic growth, and experience managing complex operations. Furthermore, as a Greek company hiring for a US-based role, the recruitment process necessitated navigating multiple time zones and cultural nuances to ensure a successful placement.

    • 3 Candidates – Four Further Interview Rounds: The top three candidates underwent additional in-depth interviews to explore their strategic vision and operational expertise.
    • 2 Candidates – Onsite Presentations at HQ: The final two candidates were flown to Sunlight Group’s headquarters to deliver relevant onsite presentations, providing an opportunity for the client to assess their strategic thinking and cultural fit.
  • Cultural Alignment: The successful candidate possessed valuable experience working in both the USA and European markets, demonstrating a strong understanding of the cultural nuances required for this international leadership role.
  • Effective Time Zone Management: Crossley Scott’s team effectively managed communication and scheduling across multiple time zones to ensure a smooth and efficient process for both the client and the candidates.

Results.

Crossley Scott successfully recruited and secured an exceptional candidate as the Chief Executive Officer for The Sunlight Group’s US operations. The candidate, who brought a wealth of leadership experience from a technical market related to energy storage batteries and a strong understanding of both US and European business cultures, commenced their role 14 weeks after the initial budget sign-off. The entire recruitment process, from initial engagement to offer acceptance, took approximately 10 weeks.
