Product Manager – Busway / Busduct Systems
Position Overview
The Product Manager for Busway is a highly visible and critical role responsible for owning the strategy, development, and lifecycle management of busway (busduct) power distribution products. Busway systems—also known as busduct—are prefabricated electrical distribution solutions consisting of copper or aluminum busbars enclosed in a protective metal housing, providing a high-capacity and flexible alternative to traditional cable and conduit systems. These products are widely used across industrial, commercial, and data center applications.
This role collaborates closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to drive growth and profitability by defining product strategy, developing and maintaining product roadmaps, and launching new busway, busbar, and busduct offerings into the market.
The Product Manager serves as an internal and external subject-matter expert for busway and power distribution systems.
Strong collaboration is required with Product Marketing, Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Service to successfully execute new product development initiatives and optimize existing busduct solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Drive the Product Development Process (PDP) for busway and busduct products by conducting market and customer research, gathering requirements, and translating needs into clear product features, specifications, and performance criteria.
Own the end-to-end product strategy and operational roadmap for a portfolio of physical, technical products including busway systems, busbars, housings, tap-off units, and related accessories.
Conduct focused market research to identify opportunities within industrial, commercial, and data center power distribution markets, including required busway capabilities, technology trends, competitive positioning, market size, and pricing dynamics.
Develop and maintain Product Requirements Documents (PRDs) that clearly communicate functional, technical, regulatory, and performance requirements for busbar and busduct products to engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams.
Partner closely with engineering and manufacturing to balance performance, reliability, safety, cost, manufacturability, and scalability of busway and busduct solutions.
Plan and execute product launch strategies, including messaging, positioning, and value propositions, in collaboration with product marketing.
Analyze product costs, margins, and pricing structures to identify opportunities for cost reduction, margin expansion, and profitable growth across the busway product portfolio.
Monitor product performance, quality data, warranty trends, and sales results to identify opportunities for product improvements and portfolio optimization.
Build and maintain relationships with customers, suppliers, and industry organizations involved in electrical power distribution, busway, busbar, and busduct technologies.
Establish strong cross-functional partnerships with engineering, project management, operations, supply chain, quality, and strategic marketing teams to ensure alignment and execution throughout the product lifecycle.
Support the sales organization through technical training, sales tools, product demonstrations, and customer interactions related to busway and busduct systems.
Stay current on applicable codes, standards, and certifications (e.g., UL, IEC, NEC) relevant to busway and busbar power distribution systems.
Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
