Business Development Leader – Utility & Energy Storage Solutions


Location - CENTRAL OR WESTERN, US


We are seeking a seasoned business development leader to drive growth in the utility and distributed energy space. This role focuses on identifying new opportunities, fostering strategic relationships, and collaborating across internal teams to deliver innovative energy storage solutions to large-scale energy users.


This is a revenue-focused position with direct responsibility for achieving growth targets. The role requires working closely with engineering, project delivery, and customer success teams to structure deals and ensure successful project execution.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Proactively identify, engage, and convert potential utility clients through research, outreach, and consultative engagement.
  • Target a mix of regulated and non-regulated utilities, municipal utilities, and other large energy consumers.
  • Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key decision-makers in the utility sector.
  • Develop and implement strategies to capture new market opportunities and meet revenue objectives.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, emerging technologies, and customer needs to guide business development efforts.
  • Lead proposal development and deliver persuasive presentations to prospective clients.
  • Negotiate complex contracts and agreements to secure new business while ensuring alignment with internal teams.
  • Collaborate across functions to ensure seamless execution of business development initiatives.
  • Travel to client sites and projects as required (~50%+).


Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience in business development or sales within utilities, distributed energy, or energy storage sectors.
  • Deep understanding of utility operations, electricity markets, and energy storage technologies.
  • Strong network within the utility sector preferred.
  • Proven ability to manage client relationships, negotiate contracts, and close complex deals.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills across both technical and executive audiences.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, energy, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience, including at least 2 years in sales or business development.
  • Familiarity with energy storage systems, renewable energy, power electronics, or related infrastructure is advantageous.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM platforms (e.g., Salesforce)
