Position Summary

Lead market analysis, financial modelling, and strategic planning to optimize revenue, reduce costs, and ensure compliance across a portfolio of BESS assets. Translate market and regulatory insights into actionable strategies, enabling cross-functional teams to deliver on operational and commercial goals while representing the company in industry forums and regulatory processes.


Key Responsibilities

Market Analysis & Strategy

  • Develop and maintain a clear market roadmap across key ISOs, identifying current and emerging value opportunities.
  • Monitor energy market structures, tariffs, programs, and regulations; forecast impacts and adjust portfolio strategies accordingly.
  • Track policy changes, pilot programs, and DER integration rules to inform market entry or participation strategies.
  • Represent the company in industry associations, regulatory consultations, and speaking engagements to influence frameworks that create value.

Financial & Operational Modeling

  • Build and maintain complex financial and operational models to forecast P&Ls, assess asset performance, and guide investment decisions.
  • Create and manage dashboards tracking revenue, costs, and performance metrics; oversee accurate and timely customer invoicing in line with contractual terms.
  • Provide underwriting inputs and commercial analysis to support sales, BD, and product teams.


Collaboration & Leadership

  • Partner with Operations, Finance, Engineering, Product, and BD to align strategies and resolve operational bottlenecks.
  • Mentor analysts in market research, modeling, and contract interpretation.
  • Manage external relationships with market participants, agents, and vendors to align with strategic priorities.


Continuous Improvement & Special Projects

  • Drive enhancements in analytical methodologies, tools, and processes.
  • Lead ad hoc projects that span operational, commercial, and regulatory domains.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Public Policy, or related field; advanced degree/MBA preferred.
  • 5–10 years’ experience in energy markets, strategy, or commercial roles within DER, storage, or renewables.
  • Strong understanding of wholesale markets, capacity programs, tariffs, and storage economics in at least two North American markets.
  • Proven track record in building financial models, interpreting market rules, and translating complex regulations into business decisions.
  • Advanced Excel skills and proficiency in at least one programming language (Python, R, MATLAB).
  • Excellent communication skills for diverse audiences, from technical teams to executive leadership.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional initiatives, mentor staff, and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with BESS project structures and commercial/regulatory considerations.
  • Willingness to travel up to 5% for meetings and events.
